About GB Kendo
The GB Kendo Team is preparing to represent Great Britain at the upcoming European Kendo Championships in Montenegro and, ultimately, at the World Kendo Championships in Japan.
Competing at this level is both an honour and a significant responsibility. Unlike many mainstream sports, kendo athletes receive very limited financial support, meaning that competitors must largely fund their own training, travel, accommodation, equipment, and entry costs. International events require months – often years – of preparation, including national training camps, specialist coaching, and overseas competition experience to ensure the team can perform at its very best.
Sponsorship and donations are therefore essential. Financial support not only helps ease the considerable personal burden on each athlete, but also ensures that selection is based on ability, dedication, and character – not on individual financial circumstances. By contributing, supporters become part of the team’s journey, helping Great Britain compete with pride, integrity, and excellence on the European and world stage.
